Ultra-Conductive Nickel Strip on Show at the International Battery Seminar 2022

AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) will present its range of pure nickel strip products for high performance batteries at the 2022 International Battery Seminar.

The event takes place from 28 to 31 March in Orlando, Florida and AMETEK SMP will be exhibiting at booth no. 115 for the duration of the show.

Metal experts from AMETEK SMP will join battery technologists and other industry leaders to showcase and discuss its high purity nickel strip for critical battery connector applications.

Higher Conductivity for Battery Connectors
The strip is custom-manufactured using a specialist wrought powder metallurgy process. This enables very low-level alloy additions to impact positively on mechanical properties without detracting from the metal’s excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. The resultant product is engineered to 99.98% purity and delivers 15-20% higher conductivity than traditional cast nickel strip.

Weight and Size Advantages in Battery Pack Design
The high conductivity results in greater transmission of power via a smaller, thinner and lighter strip. This enables a reduction of the battery tab connector footprint, material weight and cost without comprising on performance.

These advantages make nickel strip the premium material for battery connector tabs in a range of sectors including electronics, medical, aerospace, electric vehicle, defense, and oil and gas.
