AMETEK SMP took to the virtual skies at FIA Connect as Farnborough International Airshow went online for the first time this July

AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) fully embraced the world of virtual networking and exhibitor events last week, as the reputable Farnborough International Airshow went entirely digital for the first time in its 72-year history. The show was renamed FIA Connect and employed advanced digital technology to enable exhibitors, decision-makers and delegates to interact virtually via a sophisticated, interactive online platform.

Representatives from AMETEK SMP participated throughout the five-day show, connecting with people via live chat and phone to discuss the its range of high-performance metal products for the aerospace industry. The products discussed included AMETEK SMP’s high pressure metal tubes, ultra-thin, heat resistant foils, highly conductive nickel strip, custom shaped wire and specialty atomised metal powders. The missing critical applications for these products range from brazing foils for jet engines, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems to battery components, instrumentation, engine fuel lines and thermal spray metallic coatings.

Stuart Griffiths, Product Manager Tube at AMETEK SMP, said of the company’s participation in FIA Connect, “The FIA Connect training sessions and various conferences were interesting and insightful. Although the virtual FIA Connect was useful and gave us a platform to connect in these new normal times, we are looking forward to returning to the ‘old normal’ times and bringing back face-to-face meetings.”

Stacey Thomas, Aerospace Business Development Manager at AMETEK SMP, added, “FIA Connect provided a virtual space for AMETEK metals to discuss our high-strength, resistant range of metal products for critical aerospace applications. We had several successful meetings with particular interest in our precision tubes, which we are looking forward to pursuing, together with any new opportunities that arise.”

The newly created FIA Connect virtual event brought delegates from around the world five days of top quality content, collaboration, thought leadership and industry insight, all from the comfort of their own computer or device. FIA Connect offered participants multiple virtually accessible conferences, networking opportunities and promotional initiatives, all free of charge and designed to support the whole industry in these unfamiliar times.
