AMETEK SMP exhibits at world’s largest medical device show, MD&M West at Booth 3101

AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) will be showcasing its range of high-performance medical grade metal tubing, strip and powder products at this year’s Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&M West), taking place from 11 to 13 February 2020 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

Four of the six businesses that form the AMETEK SMP division will be at the event, showcasing their latest innovations and developments aimed at world-class, precision medical devices and technology.

Hamilton Precision Metals rolls metal strip and foil products in a wide range of alloys and specialty metals to the thinnest gauges and tightest tolerances. Critical medical applications include implanted devices, arterial stents, surgical instrumentation, pacemaker and neurostimulator enclosures.

AMETEK SMP Wallingford manufactures high purity nickel strip for electronics and battery connectors as well as specialty shaped wire for orthodontic brackets and channel wire for superconductors in MRI scanners.

Superior Tube and its UK-based counterpart, Fine Tubes, make precision metal tubing products from a range of alloys including stainless steel and titanium that are used for heart valves, stents, pacemakers, orthopedics and surgical instruments.

Reading Alloys is an international manufacturer of master alloys, titanium powders and gas atomized metal products. The titanium powders produced are used as biocompatible coatings for orthopedic implants and are prized for their excellent osseointegration properties.

Andy Blankemeier, Regional Sales Manager at AMETEK SMP, commented, “According to MD&M West, the global medical device market is predicted to exceed $200 billion in over the next five years, due to an aging population, increasing cases of chronic diseases and an overall increase in life expectation and developments in technology and R&D. We are keen to remain at the forefront of this exciting sector and consider events such as MD&M West essential to attend, due to the invaluable opportunities to share knowledge, witness innovation and network with industry experts.”
