SHANGHAI, CHINA – AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) now offers Ultra Power™ high-purity nickel strip from its Shanghai manufacturing facility. The new facility allows AMETEK SMP to supply Asian rechargeable battery manufacturers and other users with custom packaged, high-purity nickel strip quickly and reliably. AMETEK SMP offers short lead times to customers in China.
AMETEK’s Ultra Power nickel strip is manufactured using a proprietary wrought powder metallurgy technology that offers major advantages to rechargeable battery producers. These advantages include the highest degree of electrical conductivity available in a nickel strip, improved welding and soldering characteristics, low levels of surface oxides, and consistent formability.
High-purity nickel strip can be formed, welded, soldered or plated better than traditional melt and cast materials. As a result tabs, terminals and contacts produced of high-purity nickel strip outperform competing materials in rechargeable batteries for computers, cellular phones, pagers, video camcorders, power tools, electric vehicles and a host of other uses.
