In recent years, as the need for P/M stainless steels with improved corrosion resistance became more and more evident, AMETEK invested heavily in research and development in this area. These efforts results in AMETEK's patented Ultra Stainless SteelsTM. These powders are produced by alloying the conventional austenitic compositions with a small amount of tin, then blending this with a small amount of copper-nickel-tin alloy. This results in a marked improvement in corrosion resistance, while other properties are comparable to the conventional counterparts.
